Narrative

The main character has worked through the problems and as a result, have gained back their equilibrium. They have grown from their experience. Life is now better than it was at the beginning of the narrative

Todorov's Theory
  • Equilibrium
The main character's life is balanced and normal. There have been no disruptions to the main character's life, yet.
  • Disruption
The main character's life has suddenly been disrupted, shattering their previous equilibrium
  • Recognition
The main character now begins to realise that their situation has changed - and not for the better.
  • Repair

The main character now sets out to 'right the wrongs' and repair their situation, so that life can be as good as it was originally. (equilibrium)
  • New equilibrium
The main character is now happier than before, with their new life of peace. Their life has improved since the beginning.
The Simpson's Movie

  1. The equilibrium in the Simpson's Movie is when Bart and Homer are playing dares and having fun as father and son.
  2. The disruption is when everyone in Springfield pollutes the lake, and then Homer decides to pollute also, forcing the town to stay under the cover of a large glass dome, trapping them and their pollution away from the outside world.
  3.  Recognition is when everyone in Springfield (most importantly, the Simpson family) realise the major issue that has occurred, thus creating chaos, and the Simpsons deciding to move to Alaska for a new, peaceful life.
  4. The repair is the Simpson family moving back to Springfield and save the town from corruption and pollution.
  5.  The new equilibrium is crafted in the plot when the dome is blown up and the town is saved from the corrupt businessman.
  6. The END.
